Here's the p-n-m crew out and about in the heart of the East End on March 19th. We didn't have time to stop at The Old George Don't You Mean Kempy's, as we were bound for the further of the two Kelly's on the Bethnal Green Road.

It was a homecoming for Mister Hollingsworth (centre of the group pic - sorry about the fog.) He grew up just round the corner in Barnet Grove. When Bob was a flannel-beshorted youngster, his mum put pies strictly off limits, so this trip was something of a rebilious return.

As you can see from the brown halo in the illustration, the pies themselves contained ample liquid nourishment in the form of a gravy which gushed forth at the incision of cutlery. We liked this place, famed for its catchphrase "If we served tea and afters, it wouldn't be Pie and Mash".

Because of the impending easter festivities, our home fixture at Clark's of Exmouth Market will be this coming THURSDAY, 8th April 2004. Bus 341 outside Wellington House at 12.45, or otherwise in the queue outside the shop at 13.11.
