Here are some movie stills from the all-action Tower Bridge Road Pie Rally on Friday 25th April 2003. The setting was the oldest Pie & Mash shop in the world, the famous Manze's. It was another glory-seeking performance by Mr Darlow (right, applying essence of scotch bonnet). His five-eeler pushed back new boundaries of expenditure and point-accumulation, but when one considers the portion, one concludes that his showboating was a triumph of wallet-depth over gut-feeling. Sporting a distinctly un-footballerly hairstyle was Matthew Lowing (left); if you take a closer look at this snap you will notice the famous framed portrait of Poppa Manze on the back wall.

As the Godfather of Pie & Mash, one wonders what he would have made of TV grub pundit Rick Stein, who wasn't sitting with us. Probably mince. As you can tell from the montage, the shop oozes marble-topped, chequer-tiled authenticity. The Grand Finale to P&M Season 2002—2003 will be at Goddard's of Greenwich on Friday 16th May. Yes, that place what is featured on the home page. The wise among you will keep the whole of Friday afternoon free, because after the trophy moments, we will be undertaking a navigation of the Thames upstream to the HP. The Cutty Sark will remain securely in dry dock, so we will probably be aboard one of those grockle barges. The train to Greenwich from Waterloo East leaves at 12.55, otherwise let us meet at the shop at 13.20-ish.
