|Season 2004-2005||CLARK'S; 46 Exmouth Market, Finsbury|
This day's meeting at our home venue started inauspiciously with table topping stalwarts Lucas and Evans the sole representatives atop the 341 omnibus north to Farringdon. The club was similarly under-represented at the shop when the orders were placed, the hot sauce purchased from the shop next door, and the eels liberally doused. But from that point on, familiar faces arrived at regular intervals, like celebrity walk-on characters in your favourite sitcom. But not 'Friends' please.
Big Al showed up, then Ben Hayes on a later 341, and CF and Bonnie brought along two young tyros from their publishing concern, conveniently located around the corner. 'Twas enough to warm the coldest cockle, magnify the most minimal mollusc and widen the weediest winkle of one's heart.
And just when Mr Hayes had third place in his sights, Tom Leader showed up to snuff out those youthful aspirations. Was he born with a silver mash spoon in his mouth I ask? He can certainly put his knife and fork where his mouth is, that's for sure. Therefore I am canvassing you for suggestions regarding a suitable 'bronze' gong for this year's awards. Or is third place in the middle of nowhere?
As you will have guessed, there was no camera present at this one, so instead I bring to your computer some 'D’um-lon sngo mot' off the internet. Courtesy of Mylinh Nakry's wonderful website.
